Avocado Mixology: 4 Refreshing, Global-trendsetting Soft Drinks and Cocktails Using Simplot's Harvest Fresh Avocado Pulp

In recent years, Mexican avocado pulp has taken global tastebuds by storm. And now, mixologists are embarking on their own journey of avocado discovery. From smoothies designed for some of the world's leading coffeehouse chains to classic cocktails like the margarita and the clericot served in all kinds of bars and restaurants, the green fruit is so on trend right now, providing a refreshing option for people as they start to go out again post-pandemic.

With the Mexican avocado having such undeniable global importance, it is hardly surprising that one in every three avocados sold around the world right now comes from Mexico. Nicknamed "green gold," the fruit has become a firm favorite. Indeed, the avocado is projected to be the bestselling tropical fruit in the world by 2030.

With that in mind, the mixologists at Simplot® would like to share four simple recipes for soft drinks and cocktails based on Simplot® Harvest Fresh Avocado Pulp, adding something a bit different than the drinks we enjoy every day, at parties, in bars, and at gatherings with friends.

1. Avocado Milkshake

Ingredients:

  • 100 g of Simplot® Harvest Fresh Avocado Pulp

  • 176 g of ice

  • 164 ml of milk

  • 10 g of sugar

  • 80 g of condensed milk

Method:

Blend the Simplot® Harvest Fresh Avocado Pulp with the rest of the ingredients. Pour into a tall milkshake glass and garnish to taste.

Tip: try it with a hint of coconut cream or a shot of your favorite liquor.

2. Avocado Margarita

Ingredients (serves 8):

  • 237 ml of Simplot® Harvest Fresh Avocado Pulp

  • 355 ml of tequila

  • 355 ml of lime juice

  • 120 ml of triple sec

  • 120 ml of agave syrup

  • Ice

  • Lemon slices (garnish)

  • Tajín chili to taste (garnish)

Method:

Put all the ingredients in a blender and mix until smooth. Rub the rim of an 8 oz rocks glass with a slice of lemon. Put some Tajín in a dish. Tip the glass over into the chili so that the rim is covered. Fill each glass high with ice and pour in the margarita.

Tip: preferably use white tequila.

3. Green Avocado Clericot

Ingredients:

  • 90 g of Simplot® Harvest Fresh Avocado Pulp

  • 50 ml of natural syrup

  • 300 ml of white wine

  • 750 ml of lemon soda

  • 1 cored and peeled apple, diced

  • 50 g of diced mango

  • 50 g of diced pineapple

  • Ice to taste

Method:

Blend the avocado pulp with the white wine and natural syrup. Pour the mixture into a pitcher. Add the diced fruit. Add plenty of ice. Fill up with the lemon soda.

Tip: stir before serving.

4. Avocado on the Rocks

  • 1/2 packet of Simplot® Harvest Fresh Avocado Pulp

  • 1.5 l of water

  • ½ cup of lemon juice

  • ½ cup of sugar

Method:

Blend all the ingredients until they are well mixed. Season to taste with extra sugar if needed.

Tip: Serve cold or over ice.
