UNREAL ONION PATTY MELT
Amazing how a few flame-roasted onions can transform a classic sandwich. Suddenly, it's unusual, unexpected, and uncommonly tasty.
Ingredients
Step #1 (Grilled Mushrooms and Onions)
Vegetable Oil 3 fl oz
RoastWorks Flame-Roasted Onions 40 oz
Mushrooms, fresh, sliced 16 oz
Salt 2 tsp
Garlic Powder 1/2 tsp
Black Pepper 1/2 tsp
Step #2 (The Patty Melt)
Rye Bread, thick slice 32 ea
Swiss Cheese, sliced, 1/2 oz ea 32 slices
Hamburger Patty, 8 oz 16 ea
Butter, soft 8 oz
Thousand Island Dressing 8 fl oz
Recipe Method
  • Place the vegetable oil in a saute pan. Add RoastWorks Flame-Roasted Onions and mushrooms.
  • Saute on high heat until mushrooms are tender. Add salt, pepper, and garlic and cook for 2 minutes.
  • For each serving: Place hamburger patty on grill and cook until medium well.
  • While grilling hamburger, butter one side of each slice of rye bread with 1/4 ounce butter per slice.
  • Place rye bread on grill, butter side down; top each bread slice with Swiss cheese slice, and top one slice with 2 ounces of mushroom and onion mix.
  • Top onion and mushroom mix with 1/2 ounce of dressing.
  • When hamburger is done and bread is golden brown, top with burger and assemble sandwich.
  • Slice in half and serve.
